Leeds 4 - 0 Bristol City Reaction

Leeds scored four goals in a match for the 6th time this season, matching the number of 4+ goal matches from 2023-24 (though they also did it against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup 4th Round, so that’s seven, and this, I guess, isn’t that impressive of a stat.)

  • Daniel Farke: "We scored four fantastic goals and should have scored way more. It was one of the best performances of the whole season.”

  • Bristol City manager Liam Manning: “[Leeds are] the best team in the division, for me; huge club, huge investment, top players. There's no shame in coming here and losing - it's more the manner in how you do it and we weren't at the level we can hit.”

  • More Manning: “The mad thing is for all the good attacking stuff they had is that we conceded off a set piece. That's the frustrating bit; the manner of the goals were soft and not like us. I think the lads have done an incredible job this season of being hard to beat and making it really difficult for the opposition to score but we didn't do that tonight."

  • Leeds’ Dan James: “There's not been many Championship seasons where you have to get 100 pts to win the league. Tonight was about everyone, the fans, the manager.”

  • Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu, on Daniel Farke (who, despite his success, has been rumored to get fired this summer in favor of a manager with more of a Premier League pedigree): "He's shown in the past he's got a lot of success. He's given us advice, he's given us tips, he's been there and done it so for us it's about learning that. He gives everyone that confidence to go and do what we can do."

  • Farke, on those rumors: “It’s not surprising. I knew for which club I signed, I’m not sure how many managers Leeds had in the last 20 years, but it’s a good effort if you last for three months.” 25. Farke is the 25th manager to take control of Leeds United for at least one game since 2005, if you count the four different stints Neil Redfearn had between 2012 and 2014.

  • Farke, on plans for next season: “I've always spoken about why I signed a long-term contract here, so I want for us to steady the ship, to reunite the club because there was a big gap between the supporters and the playing group. We want to build a new group and to play how we want to play to bring the club back to the Premier League and right now the next step is to make this club an established Premier League side.”

  • Farke may have an answer by the end of the week, as Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe flew in from San Francisco for the Bristol City match.
