Saturday Evening Hot Links
Leeds United announced their Retained/Released List (you can follow along with your team’s list here, assuming you’re not necessarily a Leeds fan). Joshua Guilavogui has been released. This isn’t a surprise, but by all accounts Guilavogui is an excellent human being and a positive “locker room presence.” He only appeared on the pitch for Leeds for 65 minutes in 16 games this past season, 14 in the Championship. Notably, Leeds didn’t lose a single Championship game Guilavogui played in. Sam Byram and Junior Firpo are out of contract but apparently in discussions for new deals, with Firpo the most likely to leave (and the most vocal about wanting to stay).
Are Leeds interested in oft-injured Newcastle United man Callum Wilson?
Wales have announced their Senior Squad for their Summer Training Camp ahead of international matches against Lichtenstein and Belgium. Among the Leeds contingent, of which there are plenty, are Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow, captain Ethan Ampadu, Daniel James, and soon-to-be 19-year old Charlie Crew.
Crystal Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup Final, their first major trophy in 164 years, meaning that the Confederate States of America had enjoyed a major Win since Crystal Palace had (before Saturday). There were two major points of controversy in the game: (a) why didn’t Erling Haaland take Manchester City’s penalty? and (b) why didn’t Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson get a red card in the 24th minute? Because Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was pissed.
How Oliver Glasner led Palace through the darkness to FA Cup glory.
